To all the Chanel aficionados: Would you ever buy an authentic Chanel bag without the hologram sticker? The hologram sticker, or the serial number sticker, is quite important. It’s the way to identify you’re particular Chanel bag. It also proves authenticity. However, authenticity can also be proven by just feeling, or sometimes just looking at the bag. Whatever your decision is about hologram stickers don’t be fooled about them always being able to prove Chanel authenticity. Here’s a list of reasons why the hologram sticker is not really a factor:
1. There are actually a few Chanel handbags that are produced without the hologram sticker. They include the vintage Chanel bags, bags with new linings, and rare Chanel bags. These bags are just as authentic as any other authentic Chanel bag that includes the hologram sticker.
2. If you want or need to get the lining of you bag replaced, the repairperson will most likely remove the old lining that contains the hologram sticker. So the bag that once had a hologram sticker no longer has it. When you get the lining replaced you will get the old lining back that contains the sticker. If you buy a used Chanel bag that doesn’t have a hologram sticker it’s probably because the lining has been changed. However, the old lining with the hologram sticker should be sold along with the bag.
3. You can’t solely rely on the hologram sticker to prove authenticity. Some fake Chanel bags even contain hologram stickers. Just like the bags, replicators know how to produce fake hologram stickers and matching cards. So, just relying on the hologram sticker may not be the smartest idea.
With all that being said is it okay to buy a Chanel bag without the hologram sticker?
Initially, the hologram stickers were placed on the lining of the bags to prevent theft. So the purpose of the sticker is not solely placed on the authenticity of the bag. The only real way to make sure you’re not purchasing a fake bag is to pay attention to the craftsmanship of the bag.
If you’re familiar with Chanel bags, you’ll be able to decipher if a bag is fake or not by the feel of it. Since authentic Chanel bags are made with equipment specifically designed for Chanel, the way the bag is made cannot be replicated.
If and when you need to repair your bag, take it to your local Chanel boutique. Your local Chanel boutique will see to it that your bag is sent to the Chanel Repair Factory. The hologram sticker will give the repairperson some background information about your bag, but not a lot. If your bag just so happens to be a fake bag, they’ll be able identify it. However, they will not repair a fake Chanel bag.
Now, you have a little more information about hologram stickers. I personally wouldn’t buy a Chanel bag without the hologram sticker. If it happens to be a pre-owned bag, then I may considerate it as long as the old lining with the hologram sticker is available.
However, knowing the craftsmanship of the bag is the ultimate test in authentic versus fake. So, whichever bag you decide to buy you need to have a proper knowledge of almost everything about the bag to make sure you’re getting the real deal.
What do you think about the hologram stickers? Would you buy a Chanel bag that doesn’t have the sticker? Let me know, I’d love to hear others’ opinions about this.
*The Chanel hologram sticker is usually located in the corner, inside of the bag. It’s a tiny sticker with the number indication partly the authenticity of the bag.

It’s actually easy to remove that sticker…i once trying to read the numbers on it(very difficult while it’s in the deep corner of the bag!) but end up ripped it off…
Hi, i want to ask.. Where i can find the hologram sticker?
I bought my GST chanel through a friend, when he went to paris.
But the card i got no hologram. But it has a serial number 16600008 and a chanel logo on the right top in gliterry gold color.
He didnt gave me the invoice etc bcos he said it was taken by the custom for GST refund.
Can u help me?
Tq
It’s very strange that the invoice is taken, perhaps the custom documents can be used as alternative. But you can sure you got an authentic bag, otherways how can he claim a tax-refund.
What you have got I think, is the Chanel authencity card. Inside your bag, there should be a small label attached, with ‘two’ CC logo on it and a serial number.
