It’s now really long time ago, but we will never forget the day when two beautiful classic totes were discontinued. We’re talking about the Petite Shopping Tote (aka PST) and the Grand Shopping Tote (aka GST).

The PST and the GST were discontinued in 2013. These bags were seen as one of Chanel’s classics, just like the Classic Flap Bag. The price for the PST was $2000 USD and the price for the GST was $2900 USD in 2012. The PST and the GST were available in two sizes; the normal size and the XL size. These bags were the perfect choices because of the timeless look and they were incredible famous.

When we needed a shoulder bag, we would hunt for the Classic Flap Bag or the Reissue 2.55 Bag. But when we wanted a tote bag, we would go for the PST or the GST.

Chanel Large Classic Tote

The Large Classic Tote is the closest sibling to the Classic Flap Bag and it was released in the Spring Summer 2016 Collection. Besides the shape, this bag has all the iconic elements that are needed to become the next classic. The leather looks and feels like the Classic Flap Bag. The center is adorned with the same smooth CC logo. It’s crafted with the woven chain leather strap for hand or shoulder carry. And most importantly, it’s made with a back pocket just like the 2.55 Bag. The back pocket was built on the shoulder bag for storage of money.

There are 3 leathers available, depending on the season – lambskin, calfskin and caviar. This bag comes in diamond and chevron quilting.

If you place the Large Classic Tote next to the Classic Flap Bag, they look like they’re made for each other. So no classic bag collection will be complete without this tote.

Chanel Large Shopping Bag

The Large Shopping Bag is also another beautiful tote that’s working its way to become the house’s next classic. This bag was first introduced in the Fall Winter 2016 Collection Act 1 and it’s re-released in the Spring Summer 2018 Collection Act 2. The style looks timeless but also vintage because of the aged gold hardware.

The design features the diamond quilting, the CC logo and the woven chain strap. These are the iconic details that can make a handbag the house’s next classic. But there is one component that separates this tote from the Large Classic Tote and the PST or the GST. And that’s the double leather handle on the top. Some fashionista might prefer this handle instead of shorten the chain strap for hand carry. It’s also a very stylish way of carrying a tote, especially during the shopping moments.

The shape is also very beautiful and it holds. This bag is made from calfskin with small grains that feels luxurious. And it comes with an internal pouch.

Chanel Deauville Tote Bag

The Deauville Tote is here to stay, no doubt! It has been around since 2013. The Deauville Tote was always considered a nice summer bag because of the bright colors. And it was only available in canvas until 2018.

Unlike the two bags above, the Deauville isn’t made in diamond or chevron quilting. The big logo on the front has become the symbol of this collection. However, it does come with the woven chain leather strap and the two leather handles are very solid. The side wings are designed to make the bag flexible, and to expand whenever there are too many stuff inside.

For the Spring Summer 2018 Collection, the Deauville Bags are available grained calfskin. It’s the first-time ever. But would you rather have the bag in canvas or leather?
